One of the best things
about Kirkwood is its location. Kirkwood is just 5 miles from downtown
Atlanta. Were surrounded by fun areas filled with shopping and
restaurant such as downtown Decatur, Little 5 Points, Candler Park,
East Atlanta and Virginia-Highland.
Kirkwood is also convenient to the airport; universities including
Emory, Georgia State and Georgia Tech; and interstates including I-20
and the Downtown Connector (I-75/I-85). Best of all, were on
the MARTA east rail line, with a station right here in Kirkwood (East
Lake Station).

Kirkwood lies between DeKalb Avenue on the north, Rogers Street/Montgomery
Street on the west, Memorial Drive on the south and Mellrich Avenue/Winter
Avenue on the east. Kirkwood is located in both the City of Atlanta
and DeKalb County. Most of our services, including schools, water
and garbage are provided by the city. Services we receive from the
county include animal control and health services.

We belong to the City of Atlanta NPU-O. In addition to Kirkwood, the
East Lake, East Atlanta, and Edgewood communities all form NPU-O.
Kirkwood is also home to many churches. Turner Monumental AME and
Israel Baptist are two of our larger congregations. |
