“Abandoned Montgomery” highlights the historic places of the capital
MONTGOMERY, Alabama (WSFA) – A new book on Montgomery is on the market and tells the stories behind a number of abandoned buildings around town.
The book, titled “Abandoned Montgomery,” highlights some places that haven’t seen much light in years.
“There is a lot of history in them. they’re sturdy and carefully constructed that modern buildings simply can’t compare, ”said author David Bulit. “They seem more inclined to just wreck the old days, they see my photos and they say, you know, just get rid of that. “
The idea behind this project is not just to emphasize negativity. This is to prove that there is always room for improvement.
“Just to publicize the buildings and the historical aspect of these places,” said Bulit, who spent months researching the buildings it featured, contacting current and former owners.
“Once I researched these places further, I spent entire days examining them,” Bulit said.
All this so that its readers can understand what these places were once.
“It fascinates me how much the history of a city is interconnected that a lot of people don’t know,” Bulit added.
